Yasuhiro Matsuda is on the faculty of the University of Tokyo.
He specializes in the political and diplomatic history of Asia and particularly Japan's foreign policy and security policy, as well as politics and foreign relations in China and Taiwan.
For 16 years he worked in Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) and the Japan Defense Agency (now the Ministry of Defense), as an assistant and then senior research fellow.
He has served as a member of the Council on Security and Defense Capability in the New Era, an advisory group to the Prime Minister.
His books and articles are in Japanese and English. His recent publication in English is “Taiwan in the China-Japan-US Triangle,” Gerald Curtis, Ryosei Kokubun, and Wang Jisi eds., Getting the Triangle Straight: Managing China-Japan-US Relations, New York: Japan Center for International Exchange, 2010.
Bonnie Glaser is a Senior Advisor at the Center for Strategic & International Studies CSIS, the non-profit, non-partisan policy research think tank in Washington, where more than 100 experts focus their work on the future of national security. They cover all of the world’s pressing issues, including cybersecurity and technology, alliances, energy, trade and economics, global health and aerospace, to name some of them.
Within the Center for Strategic & International Studies, Bonnie Glaser directs the China Power Project – which assesses China’s power relative to other nations by its capabilities in several spheres: military, economic, social, technological and its international image and engagement. While it also analyses Chinese foreign policy.
These efforts are used to advise and inform policy makers, academics, industry, and the public. She has also been a consultant to US government agencies and has served on the Defense Department’s Defense Policy Board China Panel.
Bonnie Glaser is broadly published in specialty journals such as the Far Eastern Economic Review as well as in edited volumes on Asian security.
Bernard Swiecki is the Director of the Automotive Communities Partnership for the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) and a Senior Automotive Analyst in CAR’s Industry, Labor, and Economics (ILE) group.
CAR is a nonprofit research group focused on the global Automotive industry – the issues it faces and its impact on the US economy and society. The Center informs corporate leaders and policy makers.
Bernard Swiecki’s research is concentrated on automaker/supplier relationships, and electric and alternative powertrain vehicles. He manages CAR’s analysis of vehicle sales, production, and segmentation data. He has also led trade missions to China, Italy, India, and Russia.
He has authored numerous articles for print publications, as well as a monthly column on the automotive industry. He regularly presents at conferences and industry events in North America, Asia, and Europe, and is a frequent commentator in the local, national, and international media.
